St. Michaels College “Reach for the Sky” Programme
Avolon recently participated in an Aviation Awareness Module for a small group of local 4th Year Transition Students from St Michaels College, Dublin 4.
The purpose of the ‘Reach for the Skies’ programme was to give students a greater insight into the key elements of the aviation sector and the roles that various organisations play in the Irish aviation industry today.
The programme was run over a week whereby students visited the Irish Aviation Authority, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Unit, Irish Air Corps, a flight training school in Westin Aerodrome, Ryanair’s Head Office and culminated with a visit to Avolon as an example of a leading Aircraft Lessor.
Students were exposed to the core business aspects of Avolon via presentations from Legal, Credit, Pricing, Capital Markets, Technical and Trading. Some remarkably precocious questions were fielded by the Avolon team, exhibiting the talent pool of the next generation of aviation enthusiasts and professionals.
Ryanair Director of Flight Standards and Chief Pilot Ray Conway, who spearheaded the programme, remarked:
“A big thanks to everybody at Avolon for the buy-in with the ‘Reach for the Skies’ transition year programme. All of the St Michaels guys have been especially complimentary about the Avolon experience and the way in which you all engaged with the students. There is no doubt that many of them left your HQ with a whole new level of interest in the aviation industry. Thanks again for all of you help”.
