One of the leading global players in the aviation industry, we provide aircraft leasing and management services to airlines and aircraft investors worldwide. Headquartered in Dublin, we have offices globally in the US, Hong Kong, Singapore and Dubai. This leading lessor has a diverse fleet and as they strategically grow their operations they are now seeking a VP Commercial – Engines in the OEM team.
The successful candidate will report to the Head of OEM Team and his/her primary responsibilities will be to assist in managing Avolon’s day-to-day relationships with its engine OEM suppliers, oversee purchase and support contracts with those engine manufacturers, as well as draft and negotiate new purchase agreements and related documents. The individual will work closely with the Head of OEM Team in the above-mentioned areas whilst undertaking the following responsibilities:
Responsibility for the day-to-day relationship management of the commercial teams of the engine OEMs. This will include upgrading the quality and quantity of on-going interaction Avolon has with GE, SAFRAN, CFM, Rolls Royce and Pratt & Whitney.
Building a network of relationships across the commercial, marketing and technical organizations of the engine OEMs.
Positioning Avolon as a thought leader and key influencer amongst the engine OEMs.
Working closely with the Avolon technical team, in particular the powerplant group, to ensure a joined-up approach to our interactions with the engine OEMs.
Negotiation of engine purchase agreements, PA amendments, thrust pool agreements and related documents.
Providing support to Avolon Deal Teams as required through escalating outstanding items with the OEM commercial teams/senior management for resolution.
Partnering with the technical team in negotiating engine support agreements such as LMA, TCA, On-Point etc.
Working with the HNA Fleet Development Center engine team in support of our One Voice strategy with the OEMs.
OEM issue management; delivery delays, ad hoc challenges
Reporting of accurate engine related contractual data to the organization
Developing and communicating knowledge of OEM products, new developments, production plans and issues, ramp-up projections, pop-up opportunities, etc.
Regular travel to OEM facilities as well as conferences and other events.
Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate will be a commercially minded executive with strong technical knowledge. He/she will have experience in negotiating engine purchase agreements. Previously employment at an OEM and in aircraft finance is desirable. The ability to build relationships across teams and customers across different cultures is key, as is the ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally and to influence others. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong work ethic, be a self-starter and have an appetite to take risk.
