For Avolon, Art is a global language that transcends boundaries, much like our business. We believe we have a responsibility in supporting and enabling artists and, in particular encouraging their bravery as they push creative boundaries.

CELEBRATING FLIGHT

RECOGNISING PASSIONATE AVIATORS, PROUD HEROES AND AERONAUTICAL GENIUS

At Avolon, we are extremely proud of Ireland's rich aviation heritage. It is one filled with extraordinary stories of bravery, resourcefulness, circumstance, bloody mindedness, at times grave misfortune, even tragedy, but above all triumph. Here we recognise the pioneering aviators whose vision, passion, successes and failures helped forge Ireland’s unique aviation landscape.

AVOLON GLOBAL STUDIO AWARD

In 2016, Avolon created the Global Studio Award - offering international artists a residency at the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA) Gallery in Dublin. Each year Avolon invites artists from a specific geographic region to apply for the residency. Selected by an independent committee, the chosen artists take up residency in Dublin for three months and are provided with a studio at the RHA for the duration of their stay.

During her time at the Royal Hibernian Academy, Iranian visual artist Jinoos Taghizadeh developed and published a book titled the “Non-Dubliners”. The book is a play on James Joyce’s famous “Dubliners” and captures an outsiders impression of Dublin through short stories on people she met during her time in the city.
