Dómhnal Slattery

Chief Executive Officer

Dómhnal Slattery is Avolon’s founding Chief Executive Officer with over 30 years’ experience in the aircraft leasing industry. Dómhnal has built Avolon to be a global leader in aircraft leasing through a period of private equity ownership, a successful listing on the NYSE; and, a take private with Bohai Leasing. In July 2022, Dómhnal announced his intention to step down from his CEO role during the second half of 2022

In 1989, Dómhnal began his aviation financing career, initially in marketing roles with Guinness Peat Aviation (GPA) and GECAS. In 1994, he established his own aircraft advisory and investment banking services company, International Aviation Management Group (IAMG). In 2001 The Royal Bank of Scotland Group acquired IAMG as the launch platform of RBS Aviation Capital. Dómhnal was Chief Executive of this business from 2001 to 2004 and went on to become Managing Director of the Structured Asset Finance business for the Royal Bank of Scotland Group. He continued as a non-executive Director of RBS Aviation Capital until January 2008.

Dómhnal has a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) from University College Galway and is a graduate of the Accelerated Development Programme from the London Business School.

Andy Cronin

Chief Financial Officer and CEO Designate

Andy Cronin was appointed CEO Designate in July 2022 and will take on the role of CEO during the second half of 2022. As Chief Financial Officer Andy is responsible for leading the Finance and Capital Markets Teams at Avolon. In this role he has successfully led Finance and Capital Market teams through numerous capital raises, debt issuances, successfully listing Avolon on the NYSE, privatizations and subsequent corporate acquisitions.

Prior to joining Avolon, Andy served as SVP Investor Markets at RBS Aviation Capital with responsibility for disposal, financing and debt syndication of operating lease and structured debt products to a wide pool of investors and banking communities. Before working at RBS Aviation Capital, Andy worked in numerous commercial and operational roles at FLS Aerospace.

Andy has a Bachelor of Engineering and a Masters of Industrial Engineering, both with First Class Honours from University College Dublin.

Paul Geaney

President & Chief Commercial Officer

Paul Geaney was appointed as Avolon’s Chief Commercial Officer in  July 2021 and as President & CCO in July 2022. He is responsible for the Origination Team at Avolon, all aircraft origination, marketing activity, executing aircraft orders and overseeing the management of Avolon’s orderbook. Prior to this, Paul was the Chief Risk Officer and he had also previously been responsible for managing Avolon’s relationships with all airframe and engine manufacturers as Head of the OEM team.

Paul joined Avolon in May 2010. Prior to this he spent three years with Claret Capital, including a period running one of its portfolio companies, before becoming a partner at the firm. Paul began his aviation career in 2002, he has worked for RBS Aviation Capital on its credit and pricing teams and ran RBS’s international corporate jet finance business. Paul began his professional career with Merrill Lynch in New York where he worked for their healthcare banking team.

Paul holds a Bachelor Degree in Economics and Politics from Trinity College, Dublin.

Ciara Ruane

Chief People Officer

Ciara Ruane was appointed Chief People Officer in October 2021 and is responsible for leading Avolon’s people strategy, employee experience, recruitment, rewards, retention, leadership development, learning and diversity & inclusion.

Ciara has over 20 years’ Human Resources (HR) experience working in strategic HR and effectiveness and, prior to joining Avolon, Ciara worked at Primark, a leading fashion retailer. At Primark, Ciara became Group Director of People and Culture where she also led Primark’s Diversity and Inclusion agenda, wellbeing strategy and corporate giving programmes. Prior to working at Primark, Ciara worked for Willis Towers Watson for over 10 years across a broad range of HR practices.

Ciara is a graduate of Smurfit Business School and has a Bachelor of Science from University College Cork.
