Avolon &
the arts
For Avolon, Art is a global language that transcends boundaries, much like our business. We believe we have a role to play in supporting and enabling artists and, in particular, to help them push creative boundaries.
Avolon Global Studio Award
In 2016, Avolon created the Global Studio Award - offering international artists a residency at the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA) Gallery in Dublin. Each year Avolon invites two artists from a specific geographic region to apply for the residency. Selected by an independent committee, the chosen artist takes up residency in Dublin for three months and is provided with a studio at the RHA for the duration of their stay

Youthreach
Programme
As part of our ongoing support of the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA), we held the second instalment of the Avolon Youthreach Programme, a four day-long workshop designed to inspire artistic creativity among early school leavers in Ireland. The programme enables the RHA to identify and nurture artistic talent and to encourage the students to consider further education within the arts.

Aviation in Ireland
Ireland is famous all over the world for its tradition of story-telling. Our unique aviation history is perhaps less well known. Ireland truly has a rich aviation heritage and a fascinating story to tell. From the very first transatlantic flight, to the growth of Europe’s largest airline to being at the forefront of the global multi-billion dollar aircraft finance sector.
To celebrate this, Avolon commissioned a documentary film in 2014, Pioneers & Aviators, A Century of Irish Aviation. The documentary tells the story of the pioneering individuals whose vision, passion, successes and failures helped forge Ireland’s unique aviation landscape. In 2015, we also produced a book - or photographic essay – to follow the documentary, narrating the story of Irish aviation using hundreds of historic photos.
This is a story of which we are very proud to be a part of, and very much a story that is still being written...
