Avolon launched its first Blood Donation drive, with four of our staff members making the trip out to Stillorgan’s Blood Donation Clinic over their lunch break. In the first four weeks of what is hoped to be an on-going Avolon CARE initiative, 12 brave Avolon donors had visited the clinic with many more having signed up to support the initiative going forward.
The Irish Blood Transfusion Service is constantly looking for blood donors, with one in four people needing a blood transfusion at some point in their lives, yet only 3% of the Irish population currently giving blood. 3,000 blood donors are needed each week in Ireland, with each donation having the potential to save up to three lives.
