With support from Avolon, the U11s teams of Cabinteely Football Club have recently been able to purchase new football gear including kit, training and fitness equipment to support the development of young players in the local community around Cabinteely, Co. Dublin.
Established in 1967, the ethos of Cabinteely Football Club is ‘football for all’. This includes the achievement of health and wellbeing through participation in team sports and competition in the various football leagues. The club has an academy structure catering for all age groups and abilities including the aspiration and possibility of progression to senior football in the League of Ireland and on other representative teams.
Fergal Young, U11s Co-ordinator of Cabinteely FC said, “The more that young players can play and stay together as they grow up, knowing and looking out for each other in the community, the more assured they can be of happy and fulfilled lives in the future. Sport and football play a huge role in that. It’s very reassuring to know that there are companies like Avolon who care about local communities and who support initiatives such as ours and we are very grateful to everyone at Avolon for their generous support.”
In a cross border initiative, and sporting their new kit, the Cabinteely U11s Group also recently hosted the Rosario Football Club from South Belfast and played return matches in Belfast. Rosario is the original home club of Republic of Ireland manager Martin O’Neill who is also the President of that club. Through ongoing fundraising initiatives, Cabinteely FC also recently arranged development coaching for the U11s teams by UEFA professional coaches as part of a soccer tournament in Salou, Spain.
