The runners were due to partake in the Great Ethiopia Run in Addis Ababa but had to cancel due to a State of Emergency in the country. Instead they took to the streets of Dublin in what were very testing conditions with the temperature dropping below zero degrees – a far cry from the balmy weather they would have encountered in Addis Ababa The team were joined by a number of runners from ORBIS Ireland who organised the course and helped ensure that the runners were well looked after on the day. All completed the 10km course, with Avolon raising in excess of €40,000 for Vita, the highest we have raised to date for this annual event. This figure would not have been achievable without the generous contributions from all our sponsors, including our GOLD Sponsors KPMG, Holman Fenwick Willan and Berwin Leighton Paisner. We would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt thanks to all those who donated, and to extend a special thank you to the aforementioned GOLD sponsors. All funds raised went directly to Vita to further their ongoing work combatting hunger and food security issues in Ethiopia. Again, thanks so much for the enthusiastic participation from all those who took part, we have no doubt that it would not have been the success that it was without your individual contributions. Vita is an Irish development partner, which works with communities in Africa to fight hunger and climate change.
