The purpose of the ‘Reach for the Skies’ programme was to give students a greater insight into the key elements of the aviation sector and the roles that various organisations play in the Irish aviation industry today. The module was run over a week, whereby students visited the Irish Aviation Authority, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Unit, Irish Air Corps, a flight training school in Westin Aerodrome, Ryanair’s Head Office and culminated with a visit to Avolon as an example of a leading Aircraft Lessor. TRIBE members from Legal, Credit, Pricing, Capital Markets, Technical, Origination and Trading gave the students insight into the history of Avolon, the core aspects of the business, and its role in leasing and management in the aviation industry. Alan Quigley, 777 Captain of Cathay Pacific who spearheaded the programme, remarked: “What a welcome! Sincere thanks for your fantastic presentation and hospitality when our Blackrock College transition year students visited Avolon on Friday. The lads thoroughly enjoyed it, and were especially complementary of your engaging and enthusiastic team. We were well informed of the many paths that can lead to a career in aviation, and the growing industry of aircraft leasing.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_gallery type="image_grid" images="6863,6864,6865" img_size="130x87"][/vc_column][/vc_row]
