On 4th November, the Barretstown Corporate Quiz took place in the Convention Centre, Dublin, to raise much needed funds for the provision of specially designed camps and programmes for children living with a serious illness. Barretstown was founded in 1994 by Paul Newman and the charity helps over 2,500 families per year.  Just 3% of the charity’s funding comes from the government, so fundraising is crucial to keep the camps going.

8 members of the Contracts Management team attended the quiz. Both teams admitted an early defeat against the other 32 tables, so it became an Avolon head-to-head – The Quizzly Bears Vs. Dos Cerveza’s Por Favor! At the end of the evening, one team finished 4th overall with the other team finishing 34th. However, spirits weren’t dampened as both teams walked away with spot prizes for showcasing a variety of talents. A crowd pleasing cover of “Take it Easy” by Joanne O’Connor deservingly won the star prize of the night – a yellow underwater video camera.

A great night was had by all, and Barretstown raised a massive €20,000 in much needed funding. Both quiz teams are hoping for a rematch in 2016.
