[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]On 5th November, 2015 Avolon and Clifford Chance hosted their fifth event in Hong Kong in aid of ORBIS. The charity is dedicated to the prevention and treatment of blindness in the developing world. With over 110 people in attendance, the event raised circa US$80,000 which will be donated to the charity’s Ethiopian project. Avolon would like to thank ORBIS, its co-sponsors and all our guests for their support of this worthy cause.
The funds raised from the Avolon and Clifford Chance Dinner help to improve basic eye care in rural areas like Gama Gofa, Derashe and Konso in southern Ethiopia. Together we are completely transforming this region by eliminating the blinding eye disease – trachoma – from this region of two million people who are among the country’s poorest and worst affected by avoidable blindness. The impact of the Avolon and Clifford Chance Dinner is far-reaching and allows ORBIS to continue freeing people from the threat of avoidable blindness.
Members of the Avolon team have been involved with ORBIS since 2002 and have seen first-hand the difference they make with their work, saving over 300,000 people in developing countries from unnecessary sight loss each year. ORBIS provides the tools, training and technology for local eye doctors and health care workers to develop solutions to tackle avoidable blindness in Ethiopia. By strengthening eye care institutions, ORBIS helps its partners to provide long-term, quality eye care services that are affordable, accessible and sustainable.[/vc_column_text][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”6035,6036,6037,6038,6039,6040,6041,6042,6043,6044,6045,6046,6047,6048,6049,6050,6051,6052,6053,6054,6055,6056,6057,6058,6059,6060,6061,6062,6063,6064,6065,6066,6067,6068,6069,6070,6071,6072,6073″ img_size=”130×87″ el_class=”jvGallery”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
