On 6th November, 2014 Avolon and Clifford Chance hosted their forth event in Hong Kong in aid of Orbis.

The charity is dedicated to the prevention and treatment of blindness in the developing world. With 160 people in attendance, the event raised over US$97,000 which will be donated to the charity’s Ethiopian project. Avolon would like to thank Orbis, its co-sponsors and guests for their support of this worthy cause.
Members of the Avolon team have been involved with Orbis since 2002 and have seen first-hand the difference they make with their work, saving over 300,000 people in developing countries from unnecessary sight loss each year. Since 1982, Orbis has treated more than 10 million people for blindness-related diseases and conditions in 87 countries. At the same time, Orbis has been building up the local capacity of eye care institutions in the developing countries through comprehensive long-term development programs tailored to their specific needs. In addition to clinical training aboard the ORBIS Flying Eye Hospital and in local hospitals, Orbis offers technical assistance in effective disease control, monitoring and evaluation, human resources and organizational development, infrastructure and technology, as well as community partnership.
