On September 21st, Avolon participated in Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning for the second year running raising over €3,000 in the process through a staff bake sale, raffle, wine tasting and general donations. This year, Avolon supported two organizations close to the hearts of several TRIBE members, Our Lady’s Hospice Blackrock and SOS – Suicide or Survive.
Blackrock Hospice, under the management of Our Lady’s Hospice Ltd., provides specialist palliative care services, and is located in the heart of the community in Blackrock, Dublin, Ireland. Annually, over 300 new patients are seen by the community homecare team, with a combined total of almost 10,500 home visits carried out between the two sites. The Day Hospice has in excess of 70 new patients availing of the service, with over 800 attendances annually. The Specialist Palliative Care unit sees over 200 admissions per year.
SOS endeavours to challenge the stigma attached to mental illness and provide a range of educational and therapeutic programmes that increase understanding of suicide and play an active role in its prevention in Ireland.
