On the morning of 4 December 2015, the Avolon Legal Team set their alarms, packed up their blenders and tupperware and made their way to Ronald McDonald House to take part in its Cooking4Families programme. Ronald McDonald House provides accommodation for families of seriously ill children undergoing treatment at Crumlin Hospital in Dublin. The aim of the Cooking4Families is to ensure that all families staying in the residence have a home cooked meal every day and night of the week. Recognising that nothing says home like families sharing a meal together, the programme is designed to make the Ronald McDonald House as homely as possible and provide a small comfort to its residents who stay at the House while their children are being cared for at Crumlin Hospital.

Starting small, the Legal Team were tasked with creating a delicious breakfast for the residents – and that we did! The menu was planned with much thought and debate, a visit to Tesco was made, and on the morning we produced an array of delicious breakfast staples including a full Irish breakfast, smoothies, homemade granola, porridge and muffins.

What the Legal Team gave in time, food and energy was certainly rewarded by the fulfilment of, in a small way, providing hopefully some solace and convenience, to those families dealing with the most unimaginable of circumstances. Not to mention the fun of working together outside of the office and bonding over our true shared passion, our love of food! The menu for the Legal Team 2016 dinner debut at Ronald McDonald House is currently under construction. Watch this space!
