In December 2015, Avolon donated €10,000 to GOAL in aid of their Syria Refugee program. Avolon employees attended a discussion on Syria in NYC with Goal’s USA CEO, Mark Bartolini on December 3rd. Mark is the former Director of the Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA) in USAID. He led the USG’s humanitarian response to the crisis in Syria in 2012 and has made over 30 trips to the region, traveling inside northern Syria. He has 23 years of experience managing humanitarian response programs in conflict settings including work in Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq. He stated that the Syria Crisis is arguably the greatest humanitarian Crisis of our era and that we don’t yet fully understand the extent of the atrocities committed.
