Sponsor an African Scholar (SAAS), founded in early 2006, is an Irish charity which primarily enables Kenyan students from marginalised communities to attend post primary education. SAAS also sponsors vocational training, assists in providing free drugs and HIV/AIDs awareness seminars as well as facilitating providing several Kenyan schools with computers, sports equipment and books. SAAS assists those who live in extreme poverty and has a mission is to enable and empower the impoverished students, and families, in Mombasa to have access to an education that allows them to live a life of self-reliance and self-respect so that they can overcome the challenges faced within their society
