Barnardos Christmas Appeal

Barnardos work with nearly 18,000 children and families a year across Ireland and since Covid 19 we have seen an increase of 21% in the need for our family support services. Our aim was to try and reach as many of these families who were most in need.

Thanks to the generosity of Avolon and all your staff you have donated over €15,000 this enables us to provide the children and families we work with:

Over 400 hours of  1 to 1 early years support to help a pre-school child be fully ready for their transition to ‘Big School’. Barnardos Early Years Services are warm, welcoming and engaging. Through our Tús Maith curriculum, our project wokers support the youngest children aged 2 – 5 to learn, develop, and increase their readiness for school.

Supply of essential care packages for over 200 children for food to fill their bellies, pyjamas and slippers to keep them warm in the winter and school books and educational resources to help feed their mind.

Funds raised have also gone to help engage more children and families into our support services by providing:

Equipment for our outdoor play areas for children to help us facilitate social distancing and group work in a playful environment.

Decoration of our old buildings to make them more trauma informed and create a welcoming environment for children and encourage more families to access our support services.
