Avolon has made a contribution to TASC Madagascar to help build a rural school in Salohy, Madagascar.

TASC Madagascar is a charity which helps people in the Vohipeno area of South West Madagascar, one of the most deprived regions in the world. The charity supports individuals, families and communities, focussing on sustainable projects in education, health and the environment. In August 2016, TASC laid the initial foundations for a second school building with the aim for construction to be completed by March 2017. The project consists of buildings for 6 classrooms, 4 houses for teachers, sanitation, road access, 2 teacher salaries and school facilities (desks, books, play area). The school is to provide education for 150 kids of all ages. This is a very remote and disadvantaged area. TASC have recently planted 30 hectares of trees as part of the sustainable model for this community. As well as teaching the kids the basics of reading and writing, they also educate them on farming, harvesting and forestation management. With the objective that in 10 years’ time they will have a forest to harvest, rice to eat, skills in carpentry and ultimately a better quality of life.
