In early September, as part of their individual Avolon CARE days, the Finance Team embarked on an adventure to build a greenhouse for the children at Barretstown in Co. Kildare.

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] In early September, as part of their individual Avolon CARE days, the Finance Team embarked on an adventure to build a greenhouse for the children at Barretstown in Co. Kildare. Barretstown is part of a charity founded by Hollywood legend Paul Newman that seeks to rebuild lives affected by childhood cancer or other serious diseases. Sick children and their families get to come to the camp for a week or so and enjoy life again. Through specially designed fun programmes, the children regain confidence, independence and self-esteem. Their families get to relax and laugh again. The staff at Barretstown welcomed the Avolon team and went out of their way to make everyone enjoy themselves even though there was plenty of hard labour to be done. They were divided into teams with various tasks to complete including removing the old dilapidated greenhouse, preparing the ground for the new structure and constructing from scratch the final product. Out in the community for a day, it allowed the Finance team to learn, and in certain cases, showcase some skills they wouldn’t normally use around the office. It was truly an unforgettable experience and one that the Finance Team were very proud to be involved with.
