On one of the wettest and windiest Irish “summer” days, six female staff members took part in the Dublin VHI Women’s Mini Marathon on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland. On June 1st, they battled the elements in order to raise funds for this very worthy charity. The Alzheimer Society of Ireland provide a range of specialist services throughout Ireland, including running a national helpline, providing a dementia adviser service, social and family support clubs, Alzheimer cafes, home and day centres, education programmes, cognitive stimulation therapy and vitally important respite care. In May, Avolon participated in the Alzheimer Tea Party when we all enjoyed some lovely cakes and pastries. A raffle was held on the day and we would particularly like to thank our generous sponsors – Eimer Hannon Travel Services, The Intercontinental Hotel in Ballsbridge, Maia, Arch Beauty and Centra Ballsbridge– and all those who baked or donated on the day. We are extremely happy to say that we raised over €3,000 between the two events! Further information on the work of this excellent charity can be found at www.alzheimer.ie
