The 1st of September saw 16 of Avolon’s TRIBE take the plunge in a Triathlon (Swim/Cycle/Run) at Brittas Bay.

The 1^st of September saw 16 of Avolon’s TRIBE take the plunge in a Triathlon (Swim/Cycle/Run) at Brittas Bay.

For many it would be their first foray into taking on the three-disciplined endurance race on their own and for others, a team-based approach to attacking the course was deemed more sensible. Good weather and tolerable sea conditions on the day set the scene for our athletes, who were prepared to set a number of personal best’s. 😊 

230 triathletes swam, cycled and ran to the finish line with over 150 supporters cheering them on every step of the way. All in aid of Sporting Proud’s 5 amazing partner charities that are making a difference in the lives of Irish children. Avolon were there in support of the Jigsaw Centre, Darndale Childcare Services. 

Avolon’s contribution from submitting teams, fundraising and sponsoring the event on the day raised a remarkable €10,750+ for the charity. 

This money will go to helping the centre to continue to provide it’s vital services. The centre is determined not allow the unavoidable choice of birthplace and familial circumstance be a limiting factor in determining a child’s future. Through its professionally staffed facility in the heart of Darndale, the charity provides shelter, nourishment and early learning services to children from disadvantaged families. This eases the burden on the parent/s of the children, allowing them to pursue their own development or educational goals.
