Supporting Irish Guide Dogs

Irish Guide Dogs is Ireland’s national charity dedicated to helping people who are vision impaired and families of children with autism to achieve improved mobility and independence. Their core purpose is to enable people with sight loss and families of children with autism lead better lives.

This year, CARE have generously sponsored a year of training for a future Guide Dog. This year allows the puppy grow and become accustomed to normal life while living with a foster family. Each puppy is reviewed to check their reaction to environmental stimuli. This develops a temperament profile allowing the trainers and volunteers develop the puppy in a way that’s appropriate to its temperament.

As part of this initiative, the TRIBE were able to suggest names for the pup with Tango eventually being chosen. In the future we hope to meet our puppy and hear for ourselves how valuable a Guide Dog can be to giving people back their freedom.
