Junior Diabetes Research Foundation Walk (5k people on Long Island) and Rise for Cure Annual Event

"We had a very successful event back in November 2021 (Diabetes Awareness month) to raise funds for JDRF searching for a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.  The disease inflicts over 1.5m people in the US and over 20m worldwide, mostly striking young children under the age of 20.  It’s a life sentence but no longer a death sentence due to amazing technologies uncovered through research which requires continual funding in the quest for a cure.  Our annual “sweat for a cure” event supports JDRF and in 2021 was held virtual due to COVID restrictions.  It was a very successful, rewarding and emotional event with speeches of hope, resilience, determination and awareness followed by a 45 minutes bootcamp led by a renowned Equinox gym instructor.  We had participation of support from family, friends, tribe and community members.
